Steven Gerrard Stars in ADIDAS Advert at Haig Avenue

He has played at some of the world’s best stadiums and graced some of football’s greatest occasions, but Steven Gerrard's star status yesterday encountered the more modest side of the beautiful game at Haig Avenue.
Despite the unfamiliar venue, the England international was still under the full glare of the spotlight as the centre of attention in the filming of an Adidas commerical, for which Southport Football Club provided the backdrop.

Gerrard took part in several hours’ recording, along with his Liverpool colleagues Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger, for a photo shoot that will form part of a forthcoming advertising campaign for the sportswear manufacturing giant. It is suggested that the shoot was to promote a new design of boots and footballs.

Amid stringent security, the players were ushered into Haig Avenue in unmarked cars with blacked-out windows at lunchtime following training.

Having arrived on Tuesday morning, staff from Manchester-based Chief Productions worked into the evening unpacking several van-loads of equipment and finalising preparations.

With nine days to go before the Premier League kick-off, Gerrard, Kuyt and Agger today jetted off to Holland ahead of Liverpool’s first match in the pre-season Rotterdam Tournament against Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.
