Today Premier Bowl opened it's doors to the public, located in the Ocean Plaza Complex, Marine drive, Southport.

Premier Bowl boasts 20 lanes of bowling with user friendly computerised scoring facilities.

Incoporating not one but two, fully licenced bars, The Plaza Bar and The Terrace Bar, overlooking the lanes.

The doors to the centre may have opened, but their website appears not to!

Suppose it better that the actual is open rather than the virtual, and pleased we finally have another family attraction in Southport.

Well done Southport, you have eventually got a bowling alley.

Back in the early 1960's they started to build an alley, situated between the Kingsway Casino and the rear of the old Safeways on Lord Street. It was half built and for many years was boarded up. Later Safeways bought the site and cleared it, to extend the old stores car park.

I used to travel to New Brighton to play.

Use it don't lose it!!

Yes I say enjoy the new facilities while you can. Just wondering how long it will take before the scummy kids will trash the place. That nice red carpet will be covered in chewing gum in no time and the toilets will be etched with graffiti.

Still, congratulations to Southport for finally getting something completed and useful for families with children.

I rang to book a lane for myself and 12 year old son for to-night, but was told that only 6 lanes are currently operating as they were still awaiting a "shipment"...........what of, I have no idea.
Glad we now have this facility, but would have preferred to have seen it up and running to full capacity from day 1.

Or maybe they are waiting for a grand opening night for all the councillors - one of those events where only selected news organisations are invited to attend like the opening of the cinema :)

Anyone wishing to know if there is such an event should call 0151 934 2720 It does say "For more information please contact the Press Office" on the Sefton website. We would ask on everyones behalf but they never reply to us with any information :(

There is apparantly a temporary website currently at
http://www.premierbowlsouthport.btinternet.co.uk

It is a flash site at the moment and can take a while to load on a 56k modem, a new site is currently under development and should be available within the next 10 days... It is quite good but to large at the moment excellent on a broadband connection though.

when will they renovate the lanes its in a sorry state ate the moment and i play it as a sport not for fun and its ruining my equipment
