Local Jamaican's celebrate to music
Wed 25th Dec 2002, 04:17 PM
Reported by: onthespot
Local Jamaican's celebrated their Christmas day by dancing to reggae music and having the odd can of beer, all in good humour and behaving themselves. A great bunch of lads who were very friendly towards onthespot.

Pictured below was the scene Christmas Day 2002

Smiles for the camera

Dancing the day away

One chill's out (or showing off)

It's back to dancing

Brothers together

Mr Cool

The lads wish everyone a merry Christmas

Where on earth do these people live? Are they Christians? If not then why are they celebrating Christmas?

I am certain that the birth of Jesus was not intended to be celebrated listening to reggae and drinking a tray of heineken or a bottle of neat brandy.

I think you will find that there will be a lot of people going to Church and then drinking a few trays of Heinekin ,several bottles of wine, brandy and Scotch afterwoods. Maybe listening to reggae or soul or jazz.

Isn't that normal ?

My dear Doctor,

What year is this? Last time I checked it was 2002 not 1902.

I find it so hard to believe that there are people out there who still feel that they can dictate how one should celebrate Christ.

Religion, faith - call it what you will, is a fundementally personal thing between you and your God, Allah, Buddah or whatever you choose to believe in. If our Jamaican friends (and I was more shocked that there were so many in Southport! Where have they been hiding?!) choose to celebrate Christmas this way, then so be it.

Who is to say which is right - drinking and dancing to good music and having a smile on your face, or sitting around a table, getting drunk and watching James Bond on the telly?

Going to church every Sunday doesn't automatically make you a better or more righteous person. It is more important to live your life to the full and make a difference in this world.

Jesus died so that we could live our lives the way we wanted to. So stop being so pompous and spend more time making your life count instead of critisising others.

(And before anyone bothers to point it out, the irony of my critisisms of Doctor have not escaped me!)

DOCTOR......where on earth do these people live. What a statement to make. For years white people fall out of pubs at lunch time on Christmas day, singing songs I cannot under stand, swaying from side to side in an unusual rhythm. Just because there music is not your music you bring the word Christian up. What music did Jesus listen to.............Throw the first stone DOCTOR.

These immigrants obviously had NO consideration for their neighbours on Christmas day!!! Now you can understand why over 70% of the population agreed with what Enoch Powel preached.

Vicky, why do you assume that these men are immigrants?

I don't know why I am questioning you because you never respond.

I read with amazement some of the comments attached to this article. I have first hand experience of Jamaicans, as my son is married to a Jamaican girl, and you wont find any one more honest or friendly. All you have to do is treat people, (any people) as you would expect them to treat you. The only trouble is that my son and Kizzian live in London, so we don't see them that often. If any one's out clubbing it over the next week and see a gorgeous 5'11" slim Jamaican girl having a good time tell her you've read her father in laws comments. :D :D

They sure know how to enjoy themselves. These photo's makes a change from seeing our English larger louts causing trouble down the pub.
