The Arts Centre Tech manager Chris Wells today invited me to the Arts Centre turret for a photo shoot so we can share some of the interesting the views with visitors to this site.

Just curious, but what level of magnification did you use to make the pier look about 20ft long? :)

Cracking set of pictures - now how about getting yourself a ride with the police helicopter (forget the crime - just take nice piccies!!)

This is what Southport.gb.com is all about. Fantastic pictures, loads of local interest. What about speaking nicely to the landlords of the flats at the end of Lord St as well.

Actually, the pics that Pedoja has posted above do not quite hale from 1950's. The one with the old-style bus was taken with an 8mm movie camera in June of 1961. You can see the bobby, wearing one of those long white coats, in the middle of Lord St. directing traffic. The two interior shots behind the clock faces belong with the recent ones and were taken in Sept. 2000. You can read the clock backwards and figure out it was ten to four in the afternoon when I took them (Friday, but that part is harder to figure out). I used a digital video camera for those. Maybe I can stream the movie of the climb up the tower etc. someday in SGB.
