Last night, Tuesday 2nd December, Cub Scouts, Scouts, their Leaders and parents from all over Merseyside, attended a large reception held at Anfield, the home of Liverpool F.C., to be given certificates by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, acknowledging that they have gained the top training award in their section of Scouting. Amongst them were two Cub Scouts and four Scouts from Southport.
The Cub Scouts were Sam McCreath and Oli Willocks, both of the 48th (St Peter’s) Cub Pack, and they were there with their parents and their Akela, Norah Doherty.
The Scouts were Mark Lawrence and Seamus Smith of the 58th (Holy Family) Scout Troop, Will Stoppforth of the 48th (St Peter’s) Air Scouts, and Matthew Grindley of the 55th (Birkdale URC) Scout Troop. All four of these Scouts are already committed to taking their Scouting forward in a Young Leader role.
