RTC-Railway track embedded in side of bus

A flatbed lorry lost part of its cargo in Crowland Street, Southport this afternoon (Wednesday 30th May 2007) when a length of railway track fell from the lorry and became embedded in the side of a double Decker bus.

The bus was on its way to the depot when the accident occurred. The driver of the lorry was unaware of the accident and continued on his journey. Police have been informed.

The lad with his thumb up in the picture,

Don't half look like this fella below lol.

Fortunate that this bus was on it's way back to the depot as this could have been more serious if passengers where on board.

the driver did realise that a bluddy huge train track had just landed in the back of the bus .... if you read the thread it was the driver of the LORRY that didn't realise he had lost his load

I have just been told the driver of the lorry has been suspended for being "off the rails"

pedoja says: Wed 30th May 2007, 05:32 PM
fordy, you have probably not set the correct time zone in the 'user cp'. The times are fine here.

A Johnsons recovery wagon turned up at 6:30pm to remove the bus.

portfan says: Wed 30th May 2007, 08:37 PM
Just as a guess picking the railing up?

Also does this have anything to do with the large number of buses that came into the depot around 6.30pm?

Probably the wagon was owned by one of our ethnic majorities displaying only a mobile number.
Pity we didn't have the number as we could have dropped him a line

No, i live relatively close to the depot and ive never seen 15 buses enter the depot within 5 minutes.

>>Also does this have anything to do with the large number of buses that came into the depot around 6.30pm?>>

Most bus services in Southport switch to the evening timetable about 6pm, so some of the buses will be returned to the depot.

Instead of a 10 minute service during the day, for instance, we get a half-hour service from just after 6pm.

I'll bet a pound to a penny that the lorry driver was very much aware of the incident.

“just to point out that the C&W Berry wagon stopped to assist with the removal of the beam as it was passing …in the end the police decided against its removal until later in the day…”
