Not the oldest but interesting. This is my husband's Grandfather - Edgar Craven Jones. It wasn't until I was researching for an article for the FHS I found out he was dressed for the procession to celebrate the Coronation of 1902. A huge spectacle around Southport.

haha!
We do have one, I tell a lie, but it doesn't work! And we never bothered getting it fixed once digital cameras came about. I could always photograph the photo but then the quality isn't as great!

Thank you. The article I wrote was interesting to do too. A lot of useful information in the old papers. There were days of celebrating including a procession of people dressed up on their bikes. I had to amend some of the names though - just not pc today
There were candle lit streets and a procession made up of church bands, children etc which walked all the way out to Churchtown and back.
I love Southport history and these old photo's are wonderful

The Taylor Family
The first picture is from 1898 and shows Amelia Taylor my great grand mother with some of her children. One of which is Percy Taylor ( Pic 2 taken in 1904) who was the father of Alan John Percival Taylor (AJP Taylor) the historian who was born at 29 Barratt Rd Birkdale on 25th March 1906.
Pic 3 shows Alan and his mother Constance Sumner Taylor in 1911.
In September 1981 I attended a Taylor reunion in Ross on Wye and pics 4 show Alan and Pic 5 his wife Eva and my aunt Marjory Taylor.
AJP died in Sept 1990.
My mother left me 2 suitcases of wills letters and photos when she died which includes a letter from Eva, AJP's wife, and a photo of AJP 2 days before he died.
In addition I have over 50 very old photos with no dates or names shown. None of the family have any clues.
AJP did a series on ITV in the 1970s on the seaside resorts in the North West. I had VHS copies and have now transferred them to DVD. I also have a 1957 recording of one of his lectures given on the BBC in good old B&W.

I've got quite a few, most will have to be scanned though. The following 2 are on the PC, so here they are!
The first one is my paternal granddad. Not sure what year it was taken. A Lancashire farmer, notice the true sign of an old time Lancashire man...... the added security of braces AND a belt

This is one of my hubby's grandmother, seated in the chair, and one of her sisters. Again I don't know what the date is.
