Its nice to see Southport on the up. I went to watch the Christmas carnival with my family, and it really was good. What, with the carnival in summer, the carnival in winter, the flower show, the air show, the fireworks competition, the jazz festival, and countless other events that go on through the year, along with all the floral displays, Southport really is becoming a town to be proud of.
You sometimes don't realise what you have here as you see it every day, but we had well travelled friends over from Oklahoma, USA, in the summer, and they thought Southport was the most wonderful place they had ever visited.
Keep up the good work

Won't argue with you there Margo!
I earn my living from designing websites and, until the whole world is blessed with broadband access, then it is very important to make sure that webpages load as fast as possible - because, quite simply, people lose interest if they have to wait more than 15 seconds for a page to open.
The problem we have here is particularly when a thread contains several pictures. Not only does it take an age on a 56K modem to open, but the page keeps jumping every time a picture is completed - usually displacing the text you were reading to somewhere offscreen!
Now the last thing we want is people saying that this site is slow to load and putting other people off. Not only that, but if ped (and roving and one or two others) are going to go to the trouble of taking the pics in the first place, it's a waste of their time if people stop looking because of the loading times. A few more seconds spent by the posters (batch processing takes all the hard work out of it) will enhance the site visitors' enjoyment.
I have a vested interest in the continuing success of this site as I do much of the web work of the Business Select pages so, even though I now have broadband myself, I am thinking of the "customers".
So, if aiming to please the customers is obsessive, then yes, I am - and proud of it! :)
