    Southport BID bosses thank ‘Andrew Solman’ as they part company after two and a half years .



    Southport Business Improvement District has announced plans to make manager Andrew Solman redundant.

    “The Board of Directors have reviewed the BID’s management structure and have concluded that the post of BID Manager is no longer required. The post has, therefore, been made redundant.

    The Directors have thanked Andrew for all the work he has put into the BID during its first two and a half years of operation and wish him the very best of luck in the future.”

    The BID was voted in by local businesses in 2014. The initiative enables these businesses – in a defined geographical area – to identify projects or services that will add value to their operations.

    Andrew Solman has managed Southport’s BID since its conception in August 2014.

    Just get rid of the BID . More money has been spent on wages than on the town by all accounts. There's certainly no evidence of doing anything for the town that wasn't being done better before!

    totally agree, BIDS are set up to provide a nice income for the people working there and nothing else.

    Overheads including employment costs are around 15% of expentuture.

    Still looks a bit fishy to me - note the use of the term "employment costs" not "wages" or "remuneration". Also there are 5 people on the team, for £72K - really ??????

    Good riddance ! This guy caused the mess and mismanagement of the Town centre and didn't even have the decency to jump, he waited until he was pushed. He scuppered many potentially fruitful ventures and improvements for the Town and told more stories than Jackanory.

    Wonder what his cronies Cllr McGuire and Cllr Dawson are going to do now he's not at the BID to sweet talk for more favours and expenditure for Bath Street !

    Norman Wallis of Pleasureland fame is now on the Board and being their mouthpiece.

    You get £50,000 for BID from the government but they spent more than that on 2 people's wages before any revenue was collected. I'd really like to have a full breakdown of expenditure under and FOI Act before I believed the figures above! I'd also like to know why they have just purchased a fish tank for the Atkinson for the princely sum of £8,000 when they are going to make the place a part-time facility! I also believe they are asking for volunteers to feed the fish!

    If Norman Wallace is on the southport bid team. We are lucky. This man is trying his best against a lot of negativity to keep southport on the map. If Southport didn't have a fair we might as well give up. As an outsider of southport I remember when I was I was a kid. We as kids used to come to southport as it had a fair. Parents used to make us save up for it.if we passed exams etc we would be treated to a day out in southport etc. You don't realise how much Southport has to offer to people who live outside this great town. Promote the town stop being negative. We have this great place on our doorstep.lets welcome visitors and make there time spent here enjoyable. They will come back, unless they get a parking ticket 😂
