Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the old Grand Casino last night after a fire broke out reports say that there were 4/5 Fire appliances, including 2 turntables they were there for well over 2 hours, with the fire inspectors vehicle also in attendance.

There was quite a lot of smoke coming from the top floor of the building, with NO apparent flames showing from the windows,so hopefully it was contained in an isolated part of the building.

More from the fire service later.

Well at least the firemen didn't have a long 'commute'.

keep in mind which local owners are involved with all these properties that keep self combusting....how the hell do they get insurance...unless..hmmm the brokers are in on it! police just turn a lucrative blind eye to it all

Really if this is s Grade II listed building, surely The Olde English Heritage must have something to say on this. All I say is put pressure on this scally owner to sell to someone with ambition not the scroat with it now.

Listed buildings do have a habit of catching fire.

So you're implying the Police are being bribed to look the other way? Have you any evidence of this, or are you making things up for some sort of conspiracy theory?
